History
Bartolomeo Ammannati, 16th-century Italian sculptor and architect, was an exponent of mannerism. His masterpiece is the Santa Trinità bridge, which he reconstructed between 1567 and 1570 with important input from Michelangelo. In 1600, statues depicting the four seasons were placed on each of the four corners of the bridge. Destroyed during the Second World War, it was rebuilt in 1958 with the same structural and aesthetic features as the original. The Fountain of Neptune (1563-67) in Piazza della Signoria is also one of his works.
